Pedro Girba Vidal

Born in Catadau (Valencia), he completed his musical studies in Flute at the CPM “Perfecto García Chornet” in Carlet with Professor Jordi Rocher, and at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid with Vicente Martínez. He has expanded his studies with professors Joaquín Gericó, Mª Antonia Rodríguez, Claude Lefevre, Luisa Sello, Javier Castiblanque, Alvaro Octavio, Miquel Llopis and Mario Carolli.

In 2011 he obtained, with Honors, the higher title of Traverso Baroque at the RCSMM tutored by Álvaro Marías, expanding his studies with Laura Pontecorvo, Diana Baroni and Wilbert Hazelzet.

In 2017 he obtained the professional music degree in the specialty of Piano and the Extraordinary Prize for Professional Music Education of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia in this same instrumental specialty.

He has collaborated on several occasions with the RTVE Orchestra and has been part of various symphonic groups such as the ARLU Baroque Orchestra, FSMCV Band with which he recorded 2 CDs, Santa Cecilia Orchestra, Partiture Philharmonic Orchestra, Iberian Sinfonieta, etc... performing in large auditoriums such as the Palau de la Música de Valencia, the Palau de Les Arts, National Auditorium, Teatro Monumental, etc…

In 2019 he performed as a soloist with the Iberian Sinfonieta the Suite in B minor and the Barndenburg Concerto No. 2, both works by JS Bach , and the Concerto for flute and harp in C Major by WAMozart.

In 2020, he premiered as a soloist “Reimagining the Mission” by composer Isabel Royán at the Teatro Cervantes in Málaga within the MOSMA program in Málaga at its V Film Music Festival.

In 2004 he was awarded along with Javier Sánchez in the “Soloists” competition of the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid, performing as a soloist the concerto for 2 flutes by F. Doppler accompanied by the Symphonic Band of the same center. He received a scholarship in 2009 from the AIE to participate in the Granada International Music and Dance Festival and the same year he was selected by the Academy of Historical Music to participate in the Pamplona Fringe Festival. In 2007, together with Ars Trío, he received the award for best baroque group from the “Miguel Ángel Colmenero” foundation. He is also a finalist with this group in 2009 in the Caja Madrid “Acordes” contest.

He is a member and founder of the duo LIGNUM (Baroque traverse and plucked string) http://lignumlignum.blogspot.com.es , of the “Vents a 5” Quintet and of MATRITUM ENSEMBLE with whom he has recently recorded a compact disc for the Itinerant Classics label , also premiering works and musical stories by Spanish composers such as David del Puerto and Juan Cruz Guevara.

There are numerous collaborations with the Edelvives publishing house for the recording of music for children's stories from the “Colorín Colorado” collection composed by Arturo Gallo Krahe.

He has been a teacher at the Superior Conservatory of Málaga and at the Elementary and Professional Conservatories of cities such as Isla Cristina, Cádiz, Baena, Mairena del Aljarafe, Úbeda and Linares.

He teaches advanced courses in Langreo (Asturias), Cazorla, Beas de Segura, Alcaudete, etc…

He is currently a professor and vice director of the CPM “María de Molina” in Úbeda.
