Marta Cubas Hondal

Natural of Muriedas (2002). He began piano studies at the age of 6. In 2012, attracted by the great potential of the accordion, she began her studies under the tutelage of Gorka Hermosa. In 2019 he obtained the Professional Titles in Piano and Accordion at the “Jesús de Monasterio” Conservatory in Santander with the highest qualifications.

To date, he has accumulated more than twenty national and international awards in both instruments, highlighting the 1st Prize in the accordion in the “IV Torrelavega Young Performers Contest”, 2013; 1st Prize in the “XXXIV Arrasate Guipuzcoan Accordion Contest”, 2013; 1st Prize in chamber music and 3rd Prize as a soloist at the “XIV Sant Anastasi de Lleida Competition”, 2014; 4th Prize in the “Castelfidardo International Accordion Competition”, Italy, 2014; 1st Prize in the “XXXV Certamen Guipuzcoano de Acordeón de Arrasate” in the category up to 18 years old, becoming the youngest winner in the 35 years of the contest, 2014; 1st Prize in the category up to 18 years old in the “I International Accordion Competition in Mons”, Belgium, 2015; 1st Prize in the “VI National Contest for Young Performers of the City of Cuenca”, 2016; Special award for the best solo accordion performance and 1st Prize in the “XVI Sant Anastasi de Lleida Instrumental Competition”, 2016; 2nd Prize in the “66th World Accordion Trophy”, Portimao, 2016; 1st Prize in the “XV National Intercentros Melómano Contest”, 2016; 2nd Prize in the “XII César Uceda Young Performers Contest”, 2017; 3rd Prize at the “67th World Accordion Trophy” in Onet-le-Chateau, 2017; 1st Prize in the “XXXIX Certamen Guipuzcoano de Acordeón de Arrasate”, in the category over 18 years old, 2018, once again becoming the youngest winner in this category; Finalist of the second edition of the RTVE program Prodigios, 2020; 1st Extraordinary Prize for Professional Music Teaching from the Government of Cantabria, 2020.

He has performed on countless stages, national and international, both as an accordion, piano and chamber music soloist, and even playing the bandoneon. He forms a duo with his sister Cristina, a violinist, with whom he has toured since he was 12 years old and with whom he recorded the CD “Vínculos”.

She has premiered several works for accordion and orchestra, such as the Alexander Yasinski Concerto, “Atlantia” by G. Hermosa and the “Indálico” Concerto, composed expressly for Marta by Alejandro Vivas and accompanied by the Madrid Metropolitan Orchestra and under the direction by Silvia Sanz at the National Auditorium.

He is currently studying Higher Music Studies at the Higher Conservatory of the Basque Country (Musikene), with the prestigious accordionist Iñaki Alberdi.
