David Campos Guzmán

He began his career at a very early age. From the age of 7 he showed a great passion for the viola, since the warmth and energy of its sound would awaken in him a musical restlessness that lasted throughout his career.

In addition to studying at the Superior Conservatory of Málaga, he perfected his musical training at the "Iván Galamian" International Music Academy, directed by Jesús Reina and Anna Nilsen. His teachers have been Ara Vartanian, Jesús Reina, Anna Nilsen, Jesús Rodolfo, Molly Carr, Grigory Kalinovsky, Avri Levitan, Francisco Ruiz, María Helena Cordero, Paul Silverthorne, Isaac Schuldman, Joaquín Riquelme and Alfredo García.

His activity as a musician has not ceased since he began his studies, having the honor of collaborating and being head of the viola section in groups such as the Young Baroque Orchestra of Andalusia for several seasons, the Orchestra of the University of Almería, or the Orchestra of the "Iván Galamian" International Music Academy.

During his time in the United States, he met great teachers such as Patinka Kopec and Pinchas Zukerman at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. At the Sam Houston State University School of Music he offered his first recital as a soloist outside of Spain accompanied by Maestro Josu de Solaun on piano, with excellent reviews in local media. In Miami I recently had the pleasure of meeting and learning from teachers like Jorge Luis Prats or Michael Klotz.

Recently, he has been selected and awarded a scholarship by the Manhattan School of Music to complete a Master's degree in performance at said center during the 2020/2021 academic year.

His great passion in art is to be able to participate in the miracle of musical creation and its dissemination. Giving "life" to the musical legacy of great composers is, without a doubt, the best experience as a music professional for him.
