Once again, the second edition of the "Ramón Roldán" Composition Contest is being held, an initiative launched last season by the Association of Composers and Performers of Malaga (ACIM) and Iberian Sinfonietta as a result of a collaboration agreement between both institutions with the aim of promoting the premiere of newly created works and helping young composers.
As in its first edition, the winning work will be premiered by Iberian Sinfonietta during the 23-24 season. On September 17, the premiere of the winning work of the last competition, Dimensions , by the composer Sergio Pastor , took place at the Peace Palace in Fuengirola, under the direction of Juan Paulo Gómez , chief conductor of the orchestra. The contest will be open to all students of the Málaga Higher Conservatory of Music enrolled in the 2022-2023 academic year, as well as those who graduated in the specialty of Composition during the last three academic years at the same center.
