THE IBERIAN SINFONIETTA SPECIAL PRIZE: STIMULUS AND SUPPORT FOR YOUNG ANDALUSIAN PERFORMERS

On May 23, the final of the III Young Performers Contest "Ciudad de Estepona" took place, in which the "Iberian Sinfonietta Special Prize" was awarded for another year. On this occasion, the prize has been awarded to the Cádiz pianist Carla Román Vázquez , who also obtained the II Prize "ex aequo" with the Valladolid violinist Alexander Erokhin Gómez. In the final, the 13-year-old pianist performed the Suite from "The Nutcracker" by Piort Illich Tchaikovsky, arranged by the Russian pianist Mickhail Pletnev, and Corpus Christi in Seville by Isaac Albéniz.

The "Iberian Sinfonietta Special Prize" grants the best Andalusian performer who reaches the final of the competition a concert as a soloist with our orchestra. In this case, Carla Román Vázquez will be included in the Community Concerts 22-23 in one of the concerts of that season.

At the inaugural concert of the Community Concerts 21-22 , which will take place next September, the winner of this special prize in the second edition of the competition will be the trumpeter from the town of Campillos (Málaga) Amalia Escobar García , also 13 years old, who carries out his participation as a soloist performing the Concerto No. 1 in Eb Major for trumpet and orchestra by Johann Baptist Georg Neruda and the Concert piece No. 2 by Willy Brandt in an adaptation by Juan Paulo Gómez , musical and artistic director from Iberian Sinfonietta .
