CONVERSAMOS CON HORACIO REBORA, DIRECTOR DEL FESTIVAL DE TANGO DE GRANADA, CON MOTIVO DE LA INTERPRETACIÓN DE LAS "CUATRO ESTACIONES PORTEÑAS" DE PIAZZOLLA EN NUESTRO CONCIERTO DE MARZO

WE TALK WITH HORACIO REBORA, DIRECTOR OF THE GRANADA TANGO FESTIVAL, ON THE OCCASION OF THE INTERPRETATION OF THE "FOUR PORTEÑAS STATIONS" BY PIAZZOLLA IN OUR MARCH CONCERT

Dear public

We begin our journey towards our next appointment, which will be on Saturday, March 13 , at the Peace Palace in Fuengirola. We have titled the Concert “ From another prism ”, because current works will be performed but all of them look in some way to the past, to baroque forms, or are inspired in some way by the rich heritage of music from previous eras.

From here, until a few days before the Concert, we will be able to meet, through the entries to this blog, the performers and authors of the concert, thus managing to turn attendance at that concert into an authentic event , with a point of view extensive about everything that happens in the Peace Palace.

The third work that we will offer on March 13 will be the “ Estacionas Porteñas ”. A work by the famous composer Astor Piazzola inspired by Vivaldi's four seasons. This 2021 the Centennial of the birth in 1921 of this Argentine musician who revolutionized Tango and who contributed so much to music is celebrated throughout the world. Piazzola is an essential personality in making Tango an authentic style that any citizen from any part of the world can take as their own, and therefore a style to express themselves, beyond any border. In honor of him, our concert will end with a work of his that looks back to the famous Venetian priest Antonio Vivaldi and his four seasons. Hence the interpretation of Astor Piazzola's Four Seasons, with which the Concert will conclude.

One of the most authorized personalities to dedicate a few words to us about this work is Horacio Rebora , the Director of the Granada Tango Festival, who next May 2021 will dedicate the entire Festival to the legacy of Astor Piazzola.

We talk to him.

Horacio, what do Astor Piazzola's four seasons suggest to you?

In Granada, I have a place very loved by so many people called “ La Tertulia ”, and a long time ago, so that people could have the last drink and conclude the conversations, I played Vivaldi's four seasons. Then, and with that same purpose, I started to put the Piazzola Porteña Stations. Since then, it is, for me, synonymous with a last drink .”

The version that we will perform with the Iberian Sinfonietta will be an arrangement for string orchestra, with solo violin. What do you think of playing arrangements or different versions of Piazzola's original work?

“It is no coincidence that Piazzola's repertoire has not only been programmed in Tango Festivals, but also in Jazz Festivals, classical festivals, etc., this confirms the universal character of his work, and all of this in turn shows that Tango is a promiscuous genre and open to new proposals and mixtures of all kinds. So that version for string orchestra with solo violin will be more than welcome , like any other type of search on his work. "

Will listening to Piazzola's work on his Centennial bring something special?

“This 2021 is the Centennial of Astor Piazzola throughout the world, his works will be made in all their forms and with the inclusion of this important composition you will be part of that contribution and the tribute to his figure, we, for our part, will dedicate "The entire Granada Tango Festival to your work will be in May 2021 and I take this opportunity to invite all of you."

Thank you very much Tato, we count on you as a guest of honor next March 13.
