Ona Cardona

Ona Cardona is a highly sensitive performer who combines solo performance with chamber music, enjoying a wide repertoire that ranges from classicism to contemporary premieres. He has played in the main Spanish venues, such as Palau de la Música and L'Auditori de Barcelona, ​​Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Fundación Juan March, Palau de la Música de València, Auditorio de Zaragoza, and has performed at the International Festivals of Granada, Segovia, Castell de Peralada, Úbeda, Al-Kalat, Santa Cristina d'Aro, Schubertíada de Vilabertran, Fortnight Donostiarra. He has also performed concerts in relevant European venues (Wigmore Hall, St-Martin-in-the-Fields, Barbican Hall, Glyndebourne Opera, Berlin Konzerthaus, Elbphilarmonie) as well as in the United States (Carnegie Hall, Adrienne Arsht Center) and China (Nanjing Music Hall).

As a soloist, he has performed with orchestras such as Radiotelevisión Española, Sinfónica de Castilla y León, Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya, OCAZ Enigma, Orquesta de Córdoba, Nacional de Cambra d'Andorra or Simfònica de les Illes Balears, among others. . Passionate about chamber music, she usually shares the stage with artists of the caliber of Alexandar Madzar, Gerold Huber, Denis Pascal, Enrique Bagería, Juliane Banse, Mojca Erdmann, Maximilian Hornung, Ramón Ortega, The Soloists of London or the AmarArt and Casals quartets. . In the orchestral field, he collaborates with prestigious groups (Orquestra de Cadaqués, Camerata 432, Arts Symphony Orchestra) and, linked to his roots, he is clarinet soloist of the Orquesta de Cambra Illa de Menorca. He has worked with renowned directors such as Adrian Leaper, Vassily Petrenko, Salvador Mas, Virginia Martínez, Peter Rundel, Christian Curnyn, Jaime Martín, Eva Ollikainen, Krzysztof Penderecki, Nuno Coelho and Vladimir Ashkenazy.

Very committed to the art of current creation, she has premiered numerous works and composers such as Carles Santos, Alberto García-Demestres, Gabriel Brnčić, Jesús Rodríguez-Picó, Julian Philips, Cimeon Ellerton, Pedro Faria Gomes, Solfa Carlile, have dedicated their scores to her. Mark Wolf, Rhian Samuel or Henrik Goldschmidt.

He has recorded for Radio Nacional de España, Catalunya Música, Televisión Española, D+3 Artmusic Project, Tritó and Anacrusi, with his performances being broadcast internationally. Highlights in his discography include the CD for Columna Música that includes the World premiere “Suite for Solo Clarinet” by Michel Camilo, as well as the recording of the album Chiaroscuro for Eudora Records with works by Johannes Brahms, Robert and Clara Schumann together with the pianist Josep Colom, with whom he regularly acts.

Graduated from the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya with the highest qualifications, she obtained the Master with Distinction at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama of London. He has also trained at the Royal College of Music of London, and is currently pursuing a doctorate at the Rovira i Virgili University of Tarragona. Her musical quality has been recognized with numerous awards (National Higher Level Inter-center Competition, Permanent Competition of Musical Youth of Spain, El Primer Palau International Competition, among others) and she is currently frequently requested as a member of tribunals.

With extensive teaching experience, he teaches courses and master classes in which he integrates the principles of the Trager Method®. She has developed her pedagogical work at the Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears and the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón, and has recently been appointed Professor of clarinet at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Málaga.
